The Opportunity
Reporting to the City Clerk, the Policy Analyst will work with City staff to develop, review, and update, all corporate policies impacting City employees and residents, ensuring that policies are developed in line with best practices and customized to align with the City's Strategic Plan.
Accountabilities
• In consultation with city staff, lead development of policies and procedures across multiple functional areas to mitigate risk and maximize efficiencies of services provided to residents.
• Work with the Corporate Policy Committee to provide a consistent review and approval process for all corporate policies to ensure they are given full internal consideration prior to being submitted for Council approval.
• Research and maintain an inventory/ reference of best practices and policies in other cities and organizations.
• Develop policy and procedural templates that ensure consistency of design, application and the incorporation of all key considerations necessary to ensure policy efficacy.
• Prepare, present and maintain resource materials and reference tools using appropriate medium suited to the target audience (i.e. group presentations, hard copy, corporate intranet, etc)

Qualifications
Education: Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with a specialization in Public Policy or Administration, Business Administration, or any other related field.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in developing and interpreting policies within the public sector.
Successful performance in this position requires a results-oriented mindset, with specific expertise and knowledge of current and innovative approaches to writing policies and procedures. Candidate must have effective research and analytical skills, experience with presenting material in concise, clear language mindful of the target audience. Knowledge of public policy, practices and issues, federal and provincial legislation and ability to stay abreast of current issues affecting municipal services. Ability to deal with people in a professional, tactful, and diplomatic manner.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.

Monday - Friday
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
