It's an interesting and exciting time to work in the Electricity Industry in Newfoundland and Labrador! As work continues to progress the advancement of the development of two potential Landmark projects, Gull Island and the Churchill Falls Extension, Hydro is recruiting for a variety of Engineering Positions.

Our engineering teams are critical to our organization's success. In these roles you can expect to have key responsibilities such as:

  • Develop detailed technical specifications for critical equipment ensuring alignment with project objectives and applicable industry standards.
  • Review and evaluate technical proposals and bids, confirming compliance to specifications and identifying possible risks to project schedule and budget.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical sessions with stakeholders, contractors and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Contribute to cost estimation, budgeting and scheduling efforts by providing accurate engineering input during various project phases.
  • Provide technical support for operational readiness.
  • Provide on-site technical support during construction to ensure engineering design and specifications are followed.
  • Assist in the commissioning and handover of equipment to Operations, ensuring requirements of technical specifications have been achieved, as-built documentation has been provided and training needs identified.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience since graduation.
  • Professional Engineer eligible for registration with PEGNL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability to perform in different work environments.
  • A team focused approach and collaborative nature is required.
