DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL & FOOD SERVICES

The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is seeking a Director of Environmental and Food Services that exudes a constructive leadership style, is energetic, and enjoys the company of seniors living in long term care! Our Home is nationally accredited and serves 136 residents and their families. The Director will oversee our foundational services such as Housekeeping, Food Services, Laundry and Maintenance. This a diverse role where ensuring your staff has the tools and training to safely meet everyday roles is a top priority.

The Director reports to the CEO and participates on the Senior Leadership team and is an ex officio member of RK Board committees. Primary responsibilities include financial management of a department budget, procurement, inventory management, emergency planning and ensuring the Home meets the Long-Term Care Program Requirements. The Director is supported by a spirited and committed staff delivering meals, resident clothing, fresh linen, clean living areas and a warm environment. In keeping with our Mission, Vision; Values and our philosophy of Resident Centred Care, the Director is a partner in the provision of care and support of our residents, represents the home in a positive, professional, efficient and confidential manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management - responsible to maintain the facility; equipment and grounds
  • Human Resources Management - interviewing; hiring and onboarding new employees for specific department.
  • Financial Management - departmental budgeting, contracts, accounts
  • Safe Work Practices/Responsibilities - adhere to Core Value of Safety ie. leadership; communication, procedures; education

Educational Qualifications: Preference to candidates with a Bachelor of Business Administration or an acceptable equivalent. Certificate or experience working with computerized maintenance systems considered an asset. Strong Information Technology/Computer skills. Knowledgeable of regulations such as building codes, emergency plans; Government Permitting, Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS.

Experience: Minimum three years experience in a management/supervisory role and managing facility operations. Proven work experience managing facility operations of a similar size staff/facility. Good communicating and listening skills and the ability to coach, mentor and provide support to staff. Proven ability to analyze problems, evaluate evidence and develop solutions.

Hours of Work: Non-union Regular Full-time (FTE 80hrs/biweekly) hours to flex as required.

Salary: Competitive Salary to commensurate with education and experience (max $73,855)
