Department Overview

TD Securities (TDS) Finance team plays an important strategic role for TDS, ensuring that the right metrics are developed and communicated to the businesses amid continuously evolving market environment and regulatory requirements. This includes the development and achievement of TD Securities financial objectives through proactive stakeholder management, in-depth performance analysis and metrics on business profitability, expense decision support, and strategic advice on business decisions to optimize return on equity (ROE).

Job Description Overview:

The Senior Group Manager, Corporate Investment Banking, TD Securities Finance reports to the Associate Vice President, TDS Finance and works with a talented and diverse team of professionals to provide insightful analysis and advice, management reporting and recommendations for all the Corporate & Investment Banking business within TDS. The role requires a skillset that can manage key reporting, forecasting, and planning processes while also focusing on details in a high-pressure environment. Critical to the role is also having the ability to step back and take a leadership role in providing pro-active analysis, advice, and insight on a range of business and financial issues impacting TD Securities Finance.

Role Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the Finance team that provides consolidated financial reporting and advice to partners across the Business and Finance, including monthly/quarterly reporting, forecasting & planning, and ad-hoc analysis

• Provide support to business leaders in developing strategic priorities and defining long-term business objectives while effectively communicating relevant and meaningful recommendations on a range of finance management issues or related processes.

• Preparing and overseeing in-depth performance analysis and metrics on business profitability including guidance on planning and forecasting for revenue, liquidity, expenses, capital, balance sheet usage and overall ROE

• Contribute to strategy and long-term planning activities of TDS CIB including focused effort in increasing the efficiency of processes using business intelligence tools both for finance and in collaboration with the Business

• Provide oversight to historical and projected client profitability models for the CIB business.

• Proactive value-added expertise and guidance to the CIB business.

• Develop and maintain deep relationships with key business partners and other stakeholders across TDS business and product teams, Finance, Risk, HR, and Project Delivery

• Promoting a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, innovation, creativity, analysis, and advice.

Job Requirements :

• This position requires excellent management skills in finance and reporting, strong business acumen and a willingness to embrace and lead change. The successful candidate must be an individual who is able to work independently, contribute to a positive work, colleague and team experience and manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experiences:

• Keen interest and background knowledge of CIB businesses and products including the prevailing market environment.

• Demonstrated relationship building skills, and a strong collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees.

• Understanding of accounting processes within Finance Operations supporting CIB.

• Strong knowledge of Finance and TDS organization, data, processes, technology and tools.

Additional Qualifications/Skills/Experience Requirements:

• CPA/CA/CFA designation would be an asset

• Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities – ability to consolidate a large amount of information into clear, concise analysis to support and drive critical business decisions

• Work effectively with senior executives

• Highly motivated, pro-active self-starter with strong time management aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to be flexible amongst competing priorities and timelines

• Strong organizational awareness and the ability to balance the viewpoints of Finance and the Business

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• Proven ability to build strong business relationships with stakeholders across various functions

• Superior ability to influence and motivate others, including those who do not have a direct reporting relationship

• Ability to negotiate, problem solve and make decision

• Excellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo, including increasing the efficiency of processes through the use of work enablement tools.

• Knowledge of the Bank's financial reporting systems (e.g. Hyperion, FRS, PSGL), MS Office and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx).
