The opportunity:
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to join the Finance and Services Division as an Assistant Director working in the Fredericton Office.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Services Branch, the Assistant Director will oversee the management of the Department's budget and accounting unit. The incumbent will be expected to develop, recommend and implement practices and policies to control internal financial services.
The key responsibilities of the position are:
- Preparation of financial documentation required for the annual budget submission.
- Preparation of supporting documentation for Main Estimates and Public Accounts.
- Timely preparation of financial and statistical reports.
- Responsible for overseeing all year end accounting activities
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration (concentration in finance or accounting) or in commerce.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: financial management experience in a medium to large organization, government and/or experience within a public accounting firm.
- A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
- CPA designation in Canada.

Wage:
Pay Band 7 - $91,832 to $111,124 annually.
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton, N.B.
- Standard hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
