Multinational Coverage is a key growth pillar of Scotiabank's refreshed strategy, which entails the delivery of a differentiated and consistent corporate client experience across our footprint, placing the corporate client at the center of our service model, regardless of where they choose to do business.

The Associate Director, Business Management will play a supporting role as part of the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) COO team supporting the SVP, Multinational Coverage and CIB Leadership team.

This is an amazing opportunity to join our business management CIB COO team that has strategic importance to the bank and high impact for the business, to be a part of its growth from inception!

What You'll Do:

Business Management

  • Champion a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Independently prioritize and drive cross-functional initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with MNC team (e.g., Subsidiary Account Managers (SAMs), country teams, and key internal stakeholders) to deliver the enhanced Multinationals value proposition to Scotiabank's Multinational clients
  • Oversee day-to-day operations by partnering with MNC banking team, CIB and key support and control functions (operations, legal, onboarding, GBM analytics, Finance, etc.)
  • Assist Enterprise Strategy and business with drafting of strategic updates
  • Design and develop reporting to monitor progress of MNC initiative (pipeline, results, etc.)

Regulatory and Controls

  • Strengthen and develop the control environment by promoting an understanding and adherence to the existing governance framework and policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Actively promote a consistent and unified governance framework for CIB activities, driving consistencies across businesses
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and business decisions
  • Oversee responses to various regulatory requests, ensuring clarity and accuracy of responses
  • Actively create efficiencies in the way controls are applied while still operating under a strong controls framework
  • Key contact to our Compliance, Internal Control, Legal, Finance, Risk, Operations, GBM Data Analytics, GBM COO teams (including RBI) and other key stakeholders

Business Head Support

  • Acting as the right-hand person to CIB COOs; often acting as delegate in key forums and decisions and represents MNC and CIB in these discussions
  • Developing deep relationships with MNC team across our footprint to understand strategic priorities, support business activity, and drive performance
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Business Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology
  • 5+ years of experience in a Corporate Banking, Investment Banking or Global Transaction Banking role with solid knowledge of non-lending products including: Global Business Payments, Investment Banking, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Risk Solutions, and Foreign Exchange, and lending products
  • Proven ability to translate vision and strategic priorities into operational and financial realities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strategic influencing skills to effectively persuade and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and driven team-player attitude with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial role, taking initiative with drive and motivation in a matrix/lean environment
  • Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail, and high accuracy with deliverables
  • Collaborative approach in liaising with colleagues across different global jurisdictions and product groups
  • Excellent computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

Work Arrangement:

This position is an in-office role with the expectation that you will work 4-5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
