POSITION: Recreation Programmer
STATUS: Permanent Part Time .5 FTE (20 hours/week)
DEPARTMENT: Therapeutic Services
HOURS OF WORK: Various shifts including some evenings and weekends

Purpose
The Recreation Programmer is a member of the resident care team who collaboratively ensures optimal care and services for residents. The Recreation Programmer works with the Recreation Therapist to carry out therapeutic interventions for residents of varying abilities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in recreation or equivalent.
- Keen interest and experience working with the elderly population.
- Ability to work as a team member and independently.
- Time management and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with dementia an asset.
- Must display flexibility and innovation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a member of the Resident Care Team to provide services that enhance leisure functioning and collaborate in the development of a plan to ensure resident's optimal well-being.
- Provide documentation of resident activity on the electronic health record.
- Promote and participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving resident care and services.
- Participate in the implementation of Resident Care Team initiatives as identified in the strategic plan.
- Maintain professional competencies and attend continuing education sessions through workshops; lectures and conferences in pertinent areas.
