The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Procurement Analyst l (x3) to join our Procurement Team in Sudbury, ON.

This is a permanent position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers.

The Procurement Analyst l will be responsible for providing support in purchasing materials, equipment and services for the business, aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity, at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.

Accountabilities for this position:

  • Execute on supply terms, strategies, and priorities, utilizing market analysis, consumption history, and Scope of Work to align purchases with business objectives.
  • Prepare and execute competitive RFP processes, evaluate proposals through value analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO), and business case analysis, ensuring alignment of the department and the business.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and conditions, implement legal contracts, and ensure compliance with documentation and contract management standards.
  • Develop supplier portfolios, recommend competitive suppliers, monitor supplier performance, and mitigate potential risks such as insolvency or service deficiencies that could negatively impact the company.
  • Work with internal departments and stakeholders to develop and approve new suppliers/products, and maintain strong relationships with companies providing goods or services to Vale Base Metals.
  • Manage existing contracts, support supplier reviews, address future demands impacting operations, and ensure availability of critical goods and services through proactive follow-ups and contract amendments.

About You

Education: Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma preferred in Business related discipline (Commerce, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Marketing)

Experience:

  • 1-5 years of progressive experience in related roles within Vale or similar industries, such as Mining, Oil & Gas, or Industrial Fabrication. Relevant positions include Buyers, Procurement Analysts, Procurement Officers, Contract Administrators, and Category Managers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ex SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards)
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, experience in completing RFP process, inventory and warehousing knowledge, experience working with contract terms and conditions with working knowledge of contract law, customs procedures as well as duty and transportation options.
  • Communication with the internal and external stakeholders
