Salary Range: $2,017.00 to $2,818.00 bi-weekly
Reporting to the Manager, Institutional Research, the Institutional Research Data Analyst (IR Data Analyst) plays an integral role in ensuring the accurate gathering, collation, and analysis of data used in academic decision-making at NBCC. The IR Data Analyst is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the college enrolment plan and developing a continuously improved model for forecasting enrolment, supporting the work of the Quality Manager by monitoring and analyzing key program viability criteria.
In this role, you will:
Data Analysis:
- Work alongside teams within the business and the management team to establish business needs.
- Collect and combine the data result sets across multiple sources.
- Analyz results and Identifying patterns and trends in data sets.
- Report the results back to the relevant members of the business. and Interpreting and Delivering the data in a useful and appealing way to users.
- Make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable, and usable.
- Transform, improve, and integrate data, depending on the business requirements.
- Gather, analyze, and visualize data to support decision-making.
- Design dashboards to produce targeted reports and analyses departmental and divisional decision making.
- Incorporate leadership feedback into existing reports, dashboards, and analyses.
- Validate data and perform Quality Assurance analysis within datasets.
- Develop data management and governance processes.
- Build data validation automation to catch potential issues.
Reporting & Projects:
- Provide regular and non-regular reports on achievement of targets, in-year decisions and associated impacts, and proactive identification of potential risks.
- Perform data mining, analysis and reporting for team projects.
- Consult and collaborate with external organizations as required.
Support NBCC's Development:
- Contribute to NBCC's strategic plan by participating in relevant projects that support the vision, objectives, and annual plans.
- Report on benchmarks to measure the performance and plan improvements.
- Contribute to a team environment that encourages participation, where team members understand the department's and college's objectives and where they feel respected and supported.
- Proactively identify training and other professional development opportunities.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Applied Statistics/Mathematics) or any analytical or technical discipline with relevant experience.
- Experience in SQL, Python, R, ML.
- Experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience utilizing Survey Platform (Blue Explorance).
Technical/Professional Skills:
- Experience working in Data Governance (Creating Data Catalogue/Dictionary, Data Literacy Programs, Data access and Availability).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- High level of proficiency in a digital environment, including Microsoft 365. Experience with academic databases.
- Ability to organize, prioritize multiple demands and effectively manage time in a dynamic environment.
- Analytical skills, strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and proactively problem solve.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural competence and diversity.
