Definition of work:This is a professional nursing leadership position with responsibility for directing and coordinating primary care nursing, as Central Zone’s model of care delivery. This position requires extensive experience and current knowledge of all aspects of Perioperative and Ambulatory services. Reporting to the Manager of Perioperative/Ambulatory Clinics, the candidate will work closely with patients and families, front-line staff, physicians, pharmacists, and other members of the health care team to ensure the provision of safe, quality care according to current best practice guidelines. The Care Facilitator/ Educator is responsible for utilizing best practice and national standards of practice to develop, coordinate, and implement orientation for new staff and ongoing education for current staff. They will also be a clinical resource for other partners of the health care delivery team. The Care Facilitator/ Educator is a member of various committees and is accountable for monitoring and improving key nursing performance indicators such as leadership rounding, safety huddles and quality audits.
This position functions as team lead and is responsible for participation in and coordination of a collaborative approach to maintaining patient flow, a visible leadership presence on the nursing units, and ensuring delivery of patient care is safe and efficient. In addition, works collaboratively with the team to ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix on the units, and at times, provide direct nursing care. The Care Facilitator/ Educator is responsible for collaborating in a team in developing policies and procedures as they relate to the perioperative services and ambulatory programs. The Care Facilitator/ Educator will ensure staff are familiar with policies, procedures, and will provide leadership to nurses in an environment which promotes the strategic direction of the organization. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in nursing, or willingness to complete. Candidates without an undergraduate degree must complete a minimum of two courses per year.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
• Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience, two (2) of which must have been within the last four (4) years in the Operating Room.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Demonstrated;
