Definition of Work:The successful applicant submits complete and accurate detailed requests to suppliers to obtain price quotations and related data, makes purchasing decisions; analyzes information received from vendors, carries out necessary follow-up relevant to preparing the purchase orders, maintains continuous contact with vendors, places purchase orders, carries out standard routine preliminary to the formal and verbal quotation tendering process; serves in an advisor capacity to assist user departments to prepare accurate information, handles adjustments with vendors; seeks information pertaining to new sources of supply, pricing data, and quality through salespersons and daily contracts with the vendors (other related duties as required). The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Successful completion of one of the following:
1. Bachelor's Degree from a recognized/accredited university
2. 3-year diploma in Business Management from an approved/recognized college
3. recognized certification or accreditation in the purchasing field (SCMP)Completion of Supply Chain Management Professional Certification or willingness to complete the SCMP.
• Certification within three years of appointment to this position.
• Three years of buying experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge in inventory control procedures, general office practices and public tendering.
• Demonstrated experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
• Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with Meditech.
