NS-32 of the RNUNL salary scales $44.59 to $55.24 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance

About the Role
The Nursing Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Operations at the Labrador Health Centre. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for providing supervision and expert clinical support to the staff of the facility as a whole. This role is responsible for providing support for complex patients or situations, bed management, staff utilization, disaster response and is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards in accordance to the LG Model of Nursing Clinical Practice.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
? Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
? Five years Acute Care nursing experience;
? Two years of leadership or managerial experience preferred;
? Current BCLS, TNCC, NRP, ACLS (or willingness to obtain within timeframe designated by employer);
? Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills;
? Proven ability to manage conflict, supervise, support, guide and mentor staff;
? Proven ability to work independently and exercise considerable judgment and initiative in performing duties;
? Proficient in the use of basic computer programs including Meditech and Microsoft office;
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Plan, organize, and manage day to day facility issues after regular business hours;
? Plan, organize, manage and coordinate staffing based on patient acuity, occupancy and standards of care by re-assigning, replacing or calling in staff (including authorizing overtime);
? Responsible for monitoring bed capacity and overflow;
? Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff;
? Ensure equipment is functioning and available;
? Ensure supplies available for optimum patient care (such as Materials Management, Pharmacy);
? Ensure Quality Assurance checks are complete;
? Ensure patient rooms, delivery room, special care and neonatal areas, etc. are stocked with necessary supplies;
? May be required to assist with client registration and health record retrieval after hours;
? Responsible for providing feedback to Clinical Nurse Managers on performance of clinical staff;
? Act as a liaison to other healthcare facilities and professionals regarding patient care;
? Responsible for arranging Medevacs;
? Responsible for application of hospital policies and procedures, relative legislation and collective agreements;
? Provide relief for breaks if required;
? Provide clinical support to all areas of nursing as required including Long Term Care, Surgical Services, ER, Dialysis etc.;
? Round on all patients;
? Review and investigate patient complaints and occurrences, ensure CSRS initiated;
? Ensure patient, unit and assignment boards are updated;
? On call/stand-by required;
? Other related duties as required.
