JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the department head/manager, the incumbent assists physiotherapists by performing various clinical and technical tasks related to treatment to restore, maintain or improve patients' level of functional independence. This work may be performed with or without a health professional present after the necessary instructions are given. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing, storing and cleaning equipment and supplies, and ensuring that work areas are clean and tidy. The work also involves taking part in planning and implementing activities for the department or programs and may include quality improvement and risk management activities, compilation of statistics, orientation of new employees and clinical training of students. The incumbent may work with an inpatient and/or outpatient population of any age.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) plus an additional program or course in rehabilitation techniques lasting more than one year and up to two years, or the equivalent
  • Knowledge and mastery of patient transfer techniques
  • Knowledge of computer tools and office software, and ability to apply them
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Initiative, sound judgment and sense of responsibility
  • Effective time management skills and client focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work
  • Good work history (performance and attendance)
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules
