Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced technical leader to drive Global Treasury's (GT) transformation.

As Director, Data Engineering, you will collaborate with stakeholders in the bank to define the governance structures, data domain models, and tools required to support Global Treasury's vision to be an enabler for the Business Lines. You will assist in roadmap definition and implement the roadmap. In addition, you will own a portfolio of applications and ensure IT risks are managed effectively on an ongoing basis.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Global Treasury, Data Governance, and Technology teams to ensure a common data model is defined and implemented for Global Treasury.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define ongoing governance processes to ensure data assets meet data quality and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with IT Architecture teams to ensure strong alignment with the bank's architecture plans and global strategy, including alignment to the bank's goal to accelerate Cloud adoption.
  • Lead development teams to build and maintain applications.
  • Independently conduct research and analysis to resolve highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet various design issues arising from GT projects, by engaging the Treasury and technology teams, applying advanced financial and technological knowledge to the design of data, system, and process solutions. Secure consensus and co-operation from business users and senior management. Document issues, analysis, and recommendations succinctly for business decisions.
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Bank's business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, operational processes, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide solutions and services to the end user business lines.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the Bank's Corporate Functions, in particular Corporate Treasury, Risk Management (e.g. credit risk), operational processes & controls. Knowledge in other disciplines such as Capital Markets and Finance would be valuable assets.
  • Have experience directing teams to design and implement data warehouse / data lake / data mesh solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements / design methodology – detail oriented, analytical, and capable of investigating complex / technical issues and provide alternative solutions.
  • Ability to understand and work in an area where technology, regulations and product applications change constantly.
  • Manage teams directly/ indirectly and effectively work as one-team.
  • Strong knowledge of project methodologies including both Agile and Waterfall SDLC.
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills (both oral and written) as there would be frequent communications with Treasury, Global Risk Management, plus other IT groups across the bank.
  • Highly motivated and committed, great team player, capable of working in a dynamic environment with aggressive timelines, multiple work streams running in parallel.
  • Must have technical knowledge in databases / data visualization / data warehousing solutions (relational databases, Spark/Hadoop, modern data platforms).
