UNB Finance is a team of approximately 65 people who lead, direct, and develop strategic and operational planning for the university's finances. This unit reports to the Vice President Administration and Finance and serves the Board of Governors as well as the following Board Committees, Finance & Properties Committee, Audit Committee, and Investments Committee.

Salary Range: $23.48 - $27.26 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager, Student Accounts, the Clerk PL4 (SJ Student Loan & International Health Administrator) is mainly responsible for cashier service, Saint John campus student loans, international health insurance, exchange students, co-op students and experiential learning funds on student accounts.
- Provide counter service to students, faculty, staff and the public including but is not limited to receipting payments, completing loan information sheets, documenting payments, reviewing account history, accurately discussing account details with the account owner, identifying account billing problems through account analysis and taking corrective action, providing current fee information, maintaining a balanced cash drawer, and preparing the daily bank deposit.
- Discuss payment plan options with students who are unable to meet the payment deadline and approve an extension or payment plan within established guidelines.
- Receive inbound telephone calls and answer questions, identify problems through effective questioning and take corrective action.
- Download and process student loan payments daily.
- Process SJ campus student loans online for all provinces.
- Complete Program Information forms for all provinces.
- Accept International Health Insurance applications from students.
- Run reports from Colleague that reflect all International Health Insurance charges.
- Use database and create a spreadsheet to accurately reflect the details of all premiums collected, remit premium payment to the insurer, up-date the spreadsheet, reconcile to the General Ledger and remit premiums due.
- Assist international students with health claims, verify claims with the insurer, troubleshoot and act as a liaison with the insurer concerning any problems with claims.
- Function as the UNB point-person for International Health Insurance and field a wide variety of inquires from hospitals, doctor's offices, and insured parties.
- Work with the Benefits Consultant at Morneau Shepell to identify, make recommendations and review existing written policy documentation. Order and co-ordinate the delivery of printed material to both campuses each fall.
- Coordinate with the Saint John campus to provide information, answer questions and receive and document all SJ application information on the spreadsheet.
- Collect and record fees from exchange students and act on their behalf as a liaison with the International Student Advisor's Office.
- Monitor exchange student accounts for accurate billing and payments.
- Manage all transactions related to experiential learning funds.
- Ensure student accounts have been charged appropriately and investigate discrepancies by reviewing student set ups.
- Maintain UNB's HST spreadsheet by coding all tax for UNB's cash batches and invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor of Student Accounts and Receivables.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Certificate in a recognized accounting program.
- Three years of related experience in a high-volume, computerized accounting environment.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

- Experience working with accounts and fees in an academic environment is a definite asset.
- Experience working in the health and/or health insurance industry is a definite asset.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Technical aptitude to learn new software and applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Above-average spreadsheet and keyboarding skills.
- Sound knowledge of fundamental accounting principles.
- Willingness to participate in job-related courses in a computer-oriented environment.
