About the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia
WCB is the province's provider of workplace injury insurance. We inform and inspire Nova Scotians in the prevention of workplace injury, but if it occurs, we support those whose lives it touches by championing a timely return to safe and healthy work. We also provide caring, compassionate support in the wake of workplace tragedy.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Marketing, the Manager, Communications provides communications leadership and advice to help WCB Nova Scotia deliver on our mission to protect the Nova Scotia workforce. The Manager works to create awareness and knowledge of the importance of return to work and workplace safety to our province's future, by protecting the workforce that will make that future a reality. Their work fosters our corporate reputation, as it informs and inspires Nova Scotians in the change required to reduce the impacts of workplace injury, and to deliver on the WCB's service level agreements.
Working very closely with the Prevention and Employer Engagement leadership team, the Manager oversees, plans, and implements approaches to drive behavior change in the small number of workplaces that drive most of the cost of workplace injury in our province. The Manager has oversight of the WCB's evolving social media presence and strategy, guiding a team in the planning and development of content across multiple platforms.
This role will develop KPIs, goals and benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of integrated marketing campaigns and various communications projects to support business strategies for both internal and external audiences; and ensure a strong customer-centric focus while overseeing the creation, development, and execution of compelling, informative and audience-centric marketing and communications materials.

This role includes a range of people management duties for the Communications and Marketing team, including recruitment and selection, scheduling, resource allocation, supervision, performance management, and employee development.
