Job Description
As a Vendor Manager II supporting the Small Business Commercial Insurance portfolio, you will have an unprecedented opportunity to make a difference in the success of Canadian businesses and help TD Insurance in its mission to become a leading small business insurer in Canada. You bring a passion for the Commercial Insurance space and can support that passion with exceptional knowledge of the Third-Party Management Lifecycle in alignment with relevant frameworks, policies and standards.
Vendor Managers are expected to understand and maintain knowledge of Business Arrangement terms (including key Third Party and business segment or corporate function (TD) deliverables). Vendor Managers are also responsible for monitoring, analyzing and reporting on performance of Business Arrangements and identifying and escalating issues where identified in order to mitigate risk. On more strategic, critical and/or complex relationships across multiple business segments or corporate functions, role may also act as the Lead Vendor Manager supporting the Accountable Executive that owns TD's relationship with the Third Party.
Accountabilities Include:
Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for commercial insurance and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques
Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team
Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices
Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships
Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce
Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
In-depth knowledge / expertise in commercial insurance and working knowledge of broader related areas
Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area
Build an understanding of the commercial insurance industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization
Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements
Acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others
Supports projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs
Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise
Supports complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders
Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams
Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels
Supports stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels
Works independently as the lead and guides others within area of expertise
Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels
Job Requirements
Undergraduate degree
5+ years of related experience
Understanding of the Commercial Insurance line of business (or ability to learn a business quickly) to effectively support and meet operational and project requirements
Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends, especially within the Commercial Insurance space
Comfortable communicating with executives and other lines of business (LOB) stakeholders
Able to multi-task & manage multiple initiatives in addition to Business As Usual (BAU) responsibilities
Knowledge of contract terms & Vendor Management Centre of Excellence (VMCOE) guidelines to remain compliant with Audit & Legal requirements
Familiarity with TD Smart Source/Ariba and Coupa applications
Ensure contract activities (renewals/amendments/Statements of Work (SOWs)/termination) are completed in a timely manner, while satisfying all risk partners
Critical thinking is crucial to continue driving efficiencies/savings/innovation within the professional services vendor portfolio
Proficient knowledge of Vendor Management, Business Arrangements, Third-Party Management Lifecycle framework/principles, policies and procedures, systems, products/services, product research, assessment & reporting, competitive intelligence, negotiation tactics and/or regulatory requirements
