Title : Coordinator, Emergency Management

Employee Working Location : Partially Virtual / Hybrid (Saskatchewan, Canada)

Employment Status : Temporary Full-Time (6 months)

In this role, you will :

  • Act as an ERT providing coordination for the day-to-day delivery of emergency social services on site.
  • Report regularly onsite activities and issues according to technical standards.
  • Coordinate implementation and monitor the operations site capacity and needs according to the changing context.
  • Maintain communications with local authorities and stakeholders; represent the CRC with media and other organizations.
  • Evaluate the delivery of services to people affected by the disaster and the efficiency of the volunteers after a response.
  • Participate, make recommendations and coordinate preparedness strategies and initiatives to strengthen community capacity.
  • Participate in 24/7 response capacity and coordination of supplies (priority locations, seasonal and response shifts), maintain inventory, make recommendations and requests.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations and local emergency services, city, and communities.

What we are looking for :

  • Minimum qualifications for this job include completion of a post-secondary diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum three years of job-related work experience, including managing disaster response, working with volunteers, some community engagement and government relationship development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Cree, Ojibway or a second language, an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience in fostering and maintaining positive external and internal partnerships and relationships.
  • Demonstrated skills in program planning and budgeting.
  • Valid Standard or Emergency First Aid Certification or willingness to complete training.
  • Valid provincial driver's licence and satisfactory driver's abstract.

Working conditions :

  • Outside of responses, work will be performed from home.
  • Travel throughout the assigned geography will be required with occasional overnight travel.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on call and respond to emergency and disaster-related requests.
  • In times of response, may be called upon to fill roles within the emergency response structure, and may require deployment away from home for periods of several weeks, a local or virtual assignment and/or business continuity activities.
