The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) is seeking a Grid Modernization Portfolio Lead (Senior Project Manager) to play a key strategic role in helping form the path forward by overseeing grid modernization projects that support the transition to a more digital, and decarbonized grid. Projects in this area will leverage advanced systems and technologies for operating the utility of the future: Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Integration, Distribution Automation, and Integration of new DER-enabling technologies and systems, such as Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), and improving the customer experience. Accountable to senior and executive management, the incumbent will work with steering committees on strategy, planning and delivery of a portfolio of grid modernization projects for the EPMO.

Key functions include:

• Successful advancement of Grid Modernization strategy/roadmap through completion of projects, including strategy, planning/execution, benefits realization, achieving on schedule within budget results to a high degree of end user satisfaction.
• Providing leadership into the vision of NB Power's Grid Modernization roadmap including leading and managing a team of employees and smart grid consultants providing project management services to the organization, mentoring team members and supporting continuous development of team.
• Interacting regularly with NB Power senior management, other EPMO Portfolio and Project Leads, senior representatives of consulting and technology partners and industry counterparts working in the area of Smart Grid, such as the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and Smart Grid Innovation Network (SGIN).


Our ideal teammate will have:

• A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience managing complex business transformation programs and projects with supporting technologies, or collection of projects, with demonstrated project team leadership managing programs or multiple concurrent projects
• Five years of combined experience in grid modernization and business transformation
• Two years of experience in direct management of people and teams
• Thorough understanding of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standards, especially IEEE 1547
• Expert knowledge and proficiency in all aspects of Project Management (i.e. schedule development, cost estimation, cost control, risk management, earned value management, contract management, quality management, safety and construction management)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Effective strategy, planning, work scheduling and organizational skills
• Ability to coach, mediate or negotiate disputes/differences of opinion and manage conflict
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset


An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
