Job Description:

Position Summary

The Trading Risk Model Development group at TD is responsible for the development, maintenance, and calibration of market risk models. We frequently interact with various groups within the bank, including Technology, Market Risk Control (MRC), Capital Market Risk Management (CMRM), Model Validation (MV), etc. We are looking for a strong candidate to join the group at manager level (mid-senior). The successful candidate will work primarily with the TRMD team within Model Development (MD) to help carry out model calibration, backtesting, ad hoc tests and develop new methodologies and models for the measurement of market risk, as well as maintaining and improving methodologies of existing models.

Accountabilities

Maintain the current market risk and capital models Develop new modeling methodologies for measuring market risk (e.g. FRTB, VaR) Perform ongoing and/or ad-hoc testing and model calibrations Interact with other business partners (e.g. Technology, MRC, CMRM, MV) to investigate and resolve modeling issues Communicate model risk and provide full transparency around the model assumptions and usage with various stakeholders Contribute to other one-time projects of the group

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a model development or model validation role for market risk, counterparty credit risk or pricing models for capital markets

  • Postgraduate degree in a quantitative field is a must

  • Strong analytical background, e.g. PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering or Masters of Mathematical Finance with appropriate experience

  • Strong computational and programming knowledge (e.g. Python/C++/VBA)

  • Solid understanding of fundamental concepts and technics in quantitative finance

  • Strong interest in financial models and concepts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must

  • Strong team member with a focus on getting projects done effectively and efficiently

  • CFA or FRM would be an asset

  • Knowledge of VaR models would be an asset
