The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Corporate Support and Infrastructure Branch as the Director of Privacy, Records and Information Management, and Third-Party Liability, in Fredericton.

As Director, you will:

  • Be responsible for the application and interpretation of the Personal Health Information Protection and Access Act;
  • Conduct strategic/risk analysis and provide expert advice and consultation to Department of Health staff including senior management on privacy laws, regulations and standards;
  • Identify, oversee, and direct the delivery of Privacy and Records & Information Management related training, education and awareness activities;
  • Develop and implement monitoring and auditing frameworks to ensure organizational compliance to established Privacy and Records & Information Management policies and procedures;
  • Review, recommend, and implement corporate Privacy and Records & Information Management policies, procedures and practices in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and standards;
  • Establish and oversee Privacy and Records & Information Management complaint, inquiry and compliance protocols for the Department of Health;
  • Oversee Class Actions, Third-Party Liability, and Tobacco Litigation management, conducting analysis and providing advice to the department in collaboration with legal counsels;
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration between key stakeholders and health partners;
  • Advise on privacy statements, data sharing agreements and other agreements or policies where Privacy and Records & Information Management is a factor;
  • Oversee and report on privacy breaches. Identify and achieve priority objectives, organize work independently, fulfil assigned tasks and meet critical deadlines;

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience to include two (2) years of experience managing staff.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Knowledge of records management
  • Completion of/or working towards a recognized privacy certification
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Experience in the health sector

Salary: $88,712 to $107,328 per annum (Pay Band 7)
