We're expanding our technology team and in search of exceptional talent in Data Engineering.

You are a builder, influencer and change agent

In this exciting role, you will help design and build solutions for our enterprise data platform. You will identify, design and implement the internal processes to support data-driven decision making across the organization as well as mentor junior data engineers on the team. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB.

What you have to offer:

As a Senior Data Engineer with Sobeys, you will:

• Design, build and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines to process large volumes of data using Snowflake and cloud-based databases.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and implement systems that provide seamless access to data across the organization.
• Contribute to an orchestration layer of complex data transformations, refining raw data from source into targeted, valuable data assets using data vault methodology for consumption in a governed way.
• Ensure all automated processes preserve data integrity by managing the alignment of data availability and integration processes.
• Build business domain expertise to support the data needs for product teams, analytics, data scientists and other data consumers.
• Build and maintain user friendly documentation for data pipelines and key metrics.
• Mentor and guide junior data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth within the team.
• Provide support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with production data models and services.

What you have to offer

• 5+ years of designing and implementing an operational production grade large-scale data solution using Microsoft Azure cloud solutions.
• Excellent understanding of Snowflake Internals and integration of Snowflake with other data processing and reporting technologies
• Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, architecture and its implementation in complex environments.
• Experience in SQL, Python, Spark and other languages used in data manipulation
• Able to research and evaluate new features and functionality in a constantly evolving data and cloud Environment.
• Able to operate effectively and independently with ambiguous and evolving requirements.
• Knowledge of SAP technology is an asset.
• Understanding of Data Vault Methodology is an asset.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices.
