In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1 : Support provision of technical Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and coordinate leadership in NS Preparedness (NSP) at global level

  • Contribute to technical support and quality assurance for DRM related assessments, program design, monitoring and evaluation of NS preparedness, response, recovery and resilience programming, including community-based initiatives.
  • Provide specific support to NS DRM strategic planning, PER assessments and program development, facilitation of DRM trainings, and development of relevant ToRs and documentation.
  • Provide support to epidemic response preparedness initiatives.
  • Support CRC-IC Localization Approach commitments to strengthen PER Globally, including coordinating CRC global PER strategic initiatives such as the development of virtual learning solutions; PER engagement and learning videos; and other PER learning materials.
  • Support DRM advisors in engagement in the PER global Work Plan, and integration of CRC learnings and best practice into global materials and vice versa.

Responsibility 2 : Support to National Society Development (NSD) and Localization services

  • Support Senior Advisor, NSD and Localization to coordinate with the IC program teams to implement NSD support activities programmed in Annual Operating Plans (AOPs) with NSs.
  • Contribute to the coordination and/or development of CRC input into NSD support for program strategies, plans, reports, budgets and reviews for current or new initiatives.
  • Support Senior Advisor, NSD and Localization to coordinate CRC engagement in global, regional or country-level localization forums, conferences, working and/or advisory groups, including IFRC Network Way of Working.
  • Contribute to the development of the Localization service, including Quality Management planning and review, guidance and tools.

Responsibility 3 : Support learning and documentation

  • Explore new research areas in consultation with relevant CRC stakeholders and investigate partnerships with academic and research agencies for future opportunities of collaboration.
  • Support the induction and orientation of interns and researchers.
  • Support research initiatives relevant to NSD, Localization and NSP happing together with the Movement partners.

Responsibility 4 : Support an effective team

  • Monitor and provide regular project management updates on work plans and budgets.
  • Support the team with necessary administration and finance related matters.
  • Collaborate to fulfill the agreed objectives, needs and expectations. Ensure sharing and dissemination of services related materials to all concerned actors.

What we are looking for :

  • University degree in international development or related area of focus.
  • 3-5 years experience with an international organization, including experience of supporting capacity strengthening projects.
  • Knowledge of NSD and localization framework or approaches.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of disaster Preparedness and Response and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) components.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and team building attitude and skills.
  • Strong written and oral skills in English and French is required; fluency in Spanish is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, time management and staff/consultants' coordination skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts for a wide range of audiences.
  • Versatility, judgment, maturity and the ability to work in hierarchal and sensitive context.
  • Calm, positive, and collaborative under pressure with skills in negotiation and team building.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high stress environments with minimal supervision.

Working conditions :

  • May include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice.
  • Ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions.
  • This position may require domestic or overseas travel to attend conferences, workshops and meetings as required.
  • If required, and eligible, periodic travel to country operations may be required. Field missions can involve working in environments that are unstable and with unpredictable access to basic services in emergency contexts and requiring very strict adherence to security regulations.
  • Must be able to be Medically Cleared for travel in accordance with established CRC Medical criteria in positions where travel will be required.
