Halifax Water is inviting applicants for one (1) Regular Pumping Station Maintenance Person (Pumping Station Service Person Apprentice in the Wastewater and Stormwater Services Department.

Responsibilities

As a Pumping Station Service Person Apprentice you will:

Perform scheduled and emergency repair and maintenance of sewage pumping stations and related infrastructure. You will operate a variety of equipment and tools in a safe manner. You will work in all weather conditions, inside and outside and in noisy spaces, confined spaces, etc. You will be subject to emergency call ins after working hours.

Qualifications

To do this job you need to have:

- Grade 12 or equivalent

- Completion of a minimum one-year technical diploma (ie: Industrial Mechanical, Power Engineering, Marine Engineering, Auto Mechanical)

- A valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Drivers' license

- Two years of experience working in a similar environment, working with pumps/motors/controls and with similar equipment and tools.

- You will be required to obtain certification through Nova Scotia Environment within 6 months of hire as an Operator-in-Training. We arrange for the exam and pay the fee to write it.
