Job Title: Physiotherapist, Full Time

Job Description: Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team under the direct supervision of the Director of Care to meet residents' care needs.

Education Required:

  • Graduate of a University Physiotherapy Program
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (NSCP)
  • Police check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Request in the last 3 months is required

Competencies:

  • Effective communication both written and verbal in English with residents, families and co-workers
  • Strong moral and ethics along with a commitment to Privacy and Confidentiality in all aspects of the organization
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
  • Problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Reliable with good attendance and cheerful disposition
  • Maintenance of a clean and sanitary environment
  • Possesses exemplary Customer Service skills
  • Respectful and hardworking team player

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assessments and suitable treatments and exercises designed to increase mobility of residents
  • Assess residents for safe movement
  • Maintain progress notes and chart on resident's progress
  • Instruct and guide PTA
  • Communicate resident's progress with other members of care team
  • Assist the OT in assessing and prescribing of assistive or adaptive equipment
  • Maintain open communication with residents, family members, and staff
  • Participate in various committees, including but not limited to, OH&S, Lift and Transfers and Falls Prevention
  • Provide staff training on proper body mechanics and safe use of equipment
  • An active interest in continuing education
