Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.The Operational Services department encompasses a wide range of facilities and services essential to mine production such as port operations, transport to and from the mine site, site water and sewer plants, roads and road maintenance, landfill and garbage services, granular crushing program, bulk tank farms and fuel delivery, power generation and contracts services.The OpportunityVale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.We are currently seeking a Senior Coordinator, Site Services – Fuel & Binder to join our Operational Services Department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation. The Senior Coordinator, Fuel & Binder oversees and administers the operational services contracts for these services which is critical to the Voisey's Bay mine site. Responsibilities include all aspects of fuel and binder system management and reporting services including tracking and reporting for fuel off-loading and storage, distribution on site (mobile for surface and underground and power generation), taxation classifications, greenhouse gas and other environmental reporting. Container and break-bulk loading/off-loading of related binder materials, and the oversight of all related commitments for these products will also be required.A key accountability of this role is ensuring accurate information is provided to stakeholders by ensuring compliance to the site fuel control programs and systems. The Senior Coordinator is also responsible for the planning and coordinating the movement of fuel and binder from the suppliers to Voisey's Bay for the resupply of fuel and binder.Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Oversee and administer the contracts that support the fuel and binder services as well as interactions with vendors and departments to ensure smooth operation and troubleshooting of the fuel and binder systems.
  • Implement the Health, Safety and Environment System as designed and will provide leadership in the fuel and binder areas. The incumbent will work collaboratively with contractor supervisors to ensure the purpose of this position is met.
  • Prepare & update standard operating procedures to ensure safe and effective operation of facilities and equipment including procedures for reporting related activities with both contractors and employees.
  • Ensure all employees are familiar with procedures while developing and maintaining a detailed personal understanding of those procedures.
  • Ensure the cost, quality and schedule for operations are optimized in the interests of Vale.
  • Ensure the preparation, delivery, and accuracy of all types of reporting related to fuel and binder products to adhere to stakeholders' deadlines.
  • Assist with the daily and weekly administrative activities of the work group and work closely with the department Superintendent to ensure resources are in place to execute work in a timely and effective manner by providing summarized monthly spreadsheets of statistics of activities for review by the department Manager.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance needs are identified, communicated, and responded to by service providers. This includes ensuring repairs, upgrades, installation and testing associated equipment and systems are carried out so that they meet operational requirements.
  • Provide coaching and support to the site services contractors with respect to daily operations and employee engagement.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems/processes and provides guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
About YouEducation:
  • A College Diploma in a Mechanical or Electrical trade or field of study is required.
Experience:
  • 8-10 years of experience in bulk material receiving and movement.
  • Inventory management experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with fuel management systems is considered an asset.
Skills:
  • Knowledge and understanding of dealing with bulk commodities (receipt, transfer, storage and reporting) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Provincial and Federal marine regulations for shipping of bulk material.
  • Understanding of fuel taxation and environmental reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organization, communication, and analytical skills.
