The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Innovation and eHealth Branch as an eHealth Security Analyst for three (3) years. You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring cybersecurity is in place for the Department of Health systems.

As the eHealth Security Analyst, you will:

  • Participate in reviews of business and technical projects;
  • Consult and collaborate with privacy and records management groups at enterprise and public body levels;
  • Perform Risk Assessments ¿ Simple Abbreviated Risk Assessments;
  • Assess possible business impacts and develop the business security requirements for protecting information in a system;
  • Perform Business Impact Assessments ;
  • participate in application roadmap planning, cyber security strategic planning and architecture and policy development;
  • Conduct ongoing vendor security monitoring;
  • Conduct Application security testing;
  • Review Implementations - including architecture assessments and residual risk identification;
  • Participation in early stage new project initiation as part of a Project Preparedness assessment;
  • Perform Platform risk evaluations and provide mitigation measures;
  • Conduct audit reviews of Systems and Accounts;
  • Auditing and approval of access (authentication and authorization);
  • Assessment of new tool request and Web site access requests for security compliance;
  • Coordinate security incidents from end users;
  • Help ensure compliance with the Government Information Systems Security Policy.

Who you are:

  • You have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • You have proficiency in security tools and technologies such as web application security tools and vulnerability scanners.
  • You have an analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to identify and address security threats effectively.
  • You have excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • An appetite for Continuous learning and adaptability to keep pace with evolving cybersecurity threats and technologies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in an Information Technology discipline and a minimum of two (2) years related experience;
  • A working knowledge of information systems security and the ability to apply this knowledge is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Familiarity with health technologies
  • Familiarity with Cloud Security
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Subject to the response of this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Technical Competencies: The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:

  • Knowledge of Information Systems Security
  • Knowledge of Auditing (e.g. Information Systems Security Processes and Controls)
  • Knowledge of Research Methodologies, Principles, and Practices

Salary: $55,640 to $77,818 per annum (Pay Band 4)
