Our Team:

We are currently seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our dynamic Human Resources team as a Lead Claims Administrator to help us cultivate a positive work environment, focused on employee well-being and supporting organizational success of our Thompson, Manitoba Operations. This is a permanent position.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Claims Administrator, you will assist with complex claims and provide leadership through coaching and peer mentorship, while ensuring the Manitoba Operations meets its legal requirements regarding workplace injuries and reporting to the various Canadian compensation boards.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Ensure the Manitoba Operations has an established process to notify the various compensation boards across Canada of events within the legislated guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and information as required to operating areas, Workers Safety, and Insurance Board (WSIB), first aid and safety personnel in accident reporting.
  • Represent, participate, and lead complex Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal Board (WSIAB) and Canadian Compensation Board Claims and ensure the appropriate resources are assembled to present the company's case.
  • Maintain various databases related to claims administration.
  • Support Vale's Short-term Disability, Long term Disability, Return to Work and Alcohol Drug Instruction Programs
  • Review and approve invoices.
  • Assemble and communicate reports related to claims administration.

About You

Education:

  • Community college graduate in Human Resource Management or other relevant discipline or equivalent post-secondary education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year processing WSIB claims or two or more years of experience in Human Resource related activities.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of WSIB legislation, policies, and obligations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
