Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Planning, you will:

·Provide overall financial guidance to Academic and Equity in the areas of policy guidance, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, procurement, travel expense claims, government reporting and year end.

·Meet with Central Office budget managers on a regular basis to review quarterly forecasting and to provide overall financial support and advice on queries that may arise.

·Provide financial assistance to the Academic and Equity portfolio leaders in the development and management of annual budgets.

·Responsible for financial support with regards to external financial reporting and internal reporting requirements

·Complete the quarterly forecasts with consultation from Academic and Equity Leadership team. Participate in the completion of Academic and Equity position approvals, budgeting, and year end.

·Provide guidance with procurement procedures and policies to all areas requiring support in Academic and Equity.

·Communicate regularly with Central Office budget managers to ensure they are aware of Academic financial deadlines such as forecasting, budgeting and year end.

·Provide annual year over year budget analysis looking for areas of savings amongst academic programs and suggesting areas where budgets can be revised for fiscal responsibility.

·Coordinate and assist with Academic and Equity budget distribution planning, monitoring, tracking, variance analysis, feasibility analysis and cost templates.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a University Degree in Business or Commerce and a professional accounting designation. A business degree with a concentration in accounting plus an MBA may be considered.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years (full-time equivalent) of recent experience in finance or accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency with and understanding of Excel spreadsheets and PeopleSoft (or similar accounting software) including query and reporting tools.
  • Experience with budgeting applications such as IBM Business Intelligence software would be considered an asset.

  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
