The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) is dedicated to supporting Indigenous peoples in reaching their full economic development potential through advocacy and networking. The JEDI team currently requires an Indigenous Projects and Apprenticeship Coordinator in Fredericton. The Indigenous Projects and Apprenticeship project is based on a training-to-employment approach to increase the number of Indigenous workers in the skilled trades sectors in New Brunswick. The Indigenous Projects and Apprenticeship Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the ongoing success of the project through organizational ability, close attention to detail, and critical thinking and problem solving.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and project management support that ensures the efficient workflow of the project and related activities to include planning, scheduling, managing project correspondence in various media (such as written documents, email), task lists.
  • Contribute to project event planning, coordination and participation.
  • Source and purchase project supplies and equipment in accordance with Finance policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with other team members, contribute to developing project communications such as community outreach activities and social media posts.
  • Identify and inform the team of existing or potential challenges and contribute to solutions, process or policy improvements in response to issues.
  • Ensure that project data collection activities are maintained and updated appropriately. This will include ensuring that protocols for the collection, use and storage of confidential financial and personal information are strictly observed.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline and 1-3 years of experience working in administrative and project support services, or equivalent training and work experience.
  • Knowledge of the Skilled Trades sectors.
  • Understanding of First Nation communities, culture, and social concerns. Preference will be given to qualified candidates of Indigenous descent.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines and adapt to changing workload demands under minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 and other IT programs is required. Experience, or interest in developing experience, in setup and operation of audio-visual and other equipment for presentations and events would be an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel in the province.
  • Satisfactory criminal background/vulnerable sector clearance and maintenance are required.
