The Role: Accountant/Bookkeeper- Burnside Industrial Park

We are looking for an Accountant/Bookkeeper for our Dartmouth office to join our growing team. This position offers 28-32 hours per week at $22/hour starting out. You will be eligible for our benefits plan after completing the three-month probationary period. Our Company has a casual but professional work environment with little to no staff turnover. In addition to the critical attributes listed below, the successful candidate must be a good fit within our team.

Critical Attributes:

• A team player with leadership abilities - Professional, positive, respectful, and honest
• Must be able to do full-cycle accounting - from posting payables to producing financial statements
• Proficient in using (or learning new) accounting software (JONAS preferred), and Excel
• Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and best practices for small to medium-size businesses
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

• Progress billing for projects
• Accounts receivable
• Accounts payable
• Payroll
• CRA Remittances
• Journal entries
• Month/year-end
• Maintain job files- tracked via Excel spreadsheet, and input in accounting software
• Input extras to contract produced by the Estimator into a job spreadsheet and into the accounting software
• Maintain physical job files

• Undergrad or Diploma in Accounting
• 1 year of experience working as an accountant, preferably within the construction industry
