Company Overview

Eclipse Stores Inc. is a growing retailer with national operations of over 80 stores. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team in St. John's, NL. We seek an individual who can lead the Human Resources functions of the company while also working at an operational level.

Summary of Position

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all Human Resources functions across the company. The successful candidate should have a robust HR or retail management background, extensive experience with employee relations and experience in the development, implementation and execution of HR programs. This position requires a strong understanding of employment legislation and excellent communication skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the leadership team to formulate and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's values and long-term objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day HR functions of the corporate office.
  • Manage the monthly billing of the benefits and pension plans.
  • Oversee the payroll team, ensure compliance with Canadian and Provincial payroll standards.
  • Support retail District Managers for HR related issues.
  • Manage, lead and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety and Employment Standards requirements across all Provinces to ensure safe working environments for all employees.
  • Follow up on workplace injuries, ensure all forms are completed as required and manage return to work cases.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and programs for recruitment and hiring, training, employee relations, legislative compliance and performance management.
  • Assist with special projects on an as needed basis.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an HR leadership or retail management role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of a diverse range of HR functions.
  • Knowledge of employment laws with experience in ensuring compliance and managing HR related risks.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and the ability to address sensitive employee relations issues with tact and empathy.
  • Ability to lead HR projects.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Retail or multi-location experience would be a definite asset.
