Position Summary:

Mindfield is actively seeking a Security & Structured Cabling Technician to join a dynamic team in Kitimat, BC. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security and telecommunications systems in an industrial site

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and maintain video, telecommunications, and security systems, including access control, CCTV, and Network Video Recorders.
  • Perform structured cabling tasks, involving installations both inside and outside buildings, and conduct connectivity tests using OTDR and Power Meters.
  • Interpret technical documents such as blueprints and wiring diagrams to determine installation requirements.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of system issues, focusing on both hardware and software optimizations.
  • Conduct customer training and system demonstrations, providing comprehensive technical support.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with networking requirements and wiring standards relevant to the telecommunications industry.

Role Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry, including codes, standards, and regulations.
  • 2-5 years of previous security systems field service experience required.
  • College Technical Diploma or equivalent in a related field.
  • Must have one or more certifications from Lenel, Milestone Systems, or Avigilon.
  • Valid Operator's License (recent Driver's Abstract will be required upon condition of employment).
  • Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test and maintain the ability to pass subsequent pre-access testing.

  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with great attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced organizational and project planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with clients and team members effectively.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly wage ranging from $30.00 to $40.00.
