Job Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's plant and operations to maximize process efficiency and productivity. This includes developing and implementing plans, policies, and procedures to ensure adequate supply as well as maintaining and reporting accurate inventories. In addition, the Operations Manager will manage human resources, physical assets, processes, safety, and quality within the plant. This position reports to the Owner team.
The Operations Manager will have the main areas of responsibility:
- Manage turkey and poultry meat processing operations.
- Coordinate daily production schedules and staffing.
- Control labor costs and employee performance.
- Collaborate on future production planning.
- Oversee HACCP/Food Safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with quality control and traceability.
- Develop and execute production plans.
- Optimize resource use and minimize waste.
- Control inventory levels and ensure supply.
- Maintain and manage production equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage product development for growth.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Lead and supervise the production team.
- Handle hiring, training, and performance management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- Proven experience in a farm operations or food production environment, meat or poultry an asset
- Food Safety certification or willingness to obtain.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to foster strong relationships with key business partners.
- Strong work-ethic and willingness to take a hands-on leadership role.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead by example.
- Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
