The Co-operative Education Office at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the Interim Co-operative Education Employer Liaison temporary position.

Classification: Temporary Contract Position (expected end date of April 11, 2025)
Starting Salary: $41,636 per annum (prorated)

Responsibilities

A national leader in co-operative education, the University is seeking a professional to join the co-operative education team in the role of Employer Liaison. This position reports to the Co-operative Education Manager.

The Employer Liaison provides frontline administrative and organizational support for the Mount's co-op program. Much of the Employer Liaison's time is spent working and liaising with business professionals and co-op & internship students to facilitate:

  • preparing, reviewing and approving co-op and internship job postings
  • scheduling interviews and providing co-op and internship job offers
  • maintaining electronic employer and job records in the Orbis information system (Career Connects)
  • promoting the co-op and internship programs to potential employers
  • completing regular follow-up with past employers to seek job postings
  • discussing provincial and federal government co-op funding programs with employers

The Employer Liaison is also responsible for:

  • preparing marketing and promotional materials using graphic design programs
  • maintaining specified portions of the department website
  • preparing reports using Orbis (Career Connects) for the Co-op Manager and other team members
  • supporting with annual activities such as the Co-op Student and Co-op Employer of the Year Awards, and student professional development activities
  • balancing petty cash
  • providing front-line reception in the absence of the Co-op Student Liaison
  • providing support to Career Services with job postings and on-campus employer visits
  • assisting with special projects as they arise
Qualifications

A two-year community college diploma (e.g.: business) and a minimum of two years' related experience (preferably in an academic environment) are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional requirements include: superior time management and organizational skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated problem solving/analytical abilities, demonstrated ability to work and multi-task in a busy environment, and strong customer service skills. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and have an aptitude for, or experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc. Candidates should also be familiar with databases and desktop publishing software (e.g. Publisher, InDesign).
