Halifax Water is inviting applications for one (1) Regular, Full-Time Occupational Therapist which is part of the People and Culture Department and has full time hours.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for their personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations and Halifax Water's Occupational Health and Safety Program Manual.

Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist is directly responsible for improving workplace occupational health and assist the Occupational Health and Hygiene Practitioner in the management of leaves, return-to-work, accommodations, wellness and other general health related programs and benefits provided by Halifax Water. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with employees to understand their health goals and assess their abilities in relation to job demands. Providing education on health-related topics, and work with employees who have experienced illness or injury to develop return-to-work schedules. Taking a holistic approach, the OT considers the interplay between the person, environment, and occupation, aiming to foster a safe and health-conscious work environment.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this position include post-secondary education in Occupational Therapy. Additionally, experience in occupational health and/or an industrial workplace setting is considered an asset. Familiarity with working with organizations such as WCB (Workers' Compensation Board), LTD (Long-Term Disability), and disability management is also advantageous. Candidates with experience in conducting work site visits and analysis are preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
