Looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others?

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Casual Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) to join our team in providing top-quality care to our residents in Northside Community Guest Home, a modern and progressive long-term care setting in North Sydney.

The CCA will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and will provide personalized care to residents with diverse needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver exceptional care to residents by assisting with personal hygiene, mobility and transfers, serving meals, monitoring vital signs, and responding to residents' needs in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and communicate with RNs/LPNs regarding residents' care needs to ensure a cohesive and effective approach.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that promotes residents' health and wellbeing.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure optimal care for our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Continuing Care Certification or Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent
  • Registration in Nova Scotia's CCA registry as per the Continuing Care Assistants Registry Act (Nova Scotia only)
  • Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) or completion of skills development portion of LPN or CCA program in Nova Scotia
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care to residents with varying degrees of physical and cognitive impairment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and transferring residents.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening
  • Completion of Alzheimer's and Dementia Care course considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a long-term care setting is an asset.
