Our Finance team is rapidly growing! As an internal service we provide support to the organization by processing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of financial statements for four funds and adhoc analysis. We also provide financial processing services to a select number of clients, implement new financial software for clients and provide detailed pension remittance services. We have recently grown to include a unique payroll service servicing a select group of members.

Position Scope

Reporting to the Chief Comptroller, the Finance Manager leads a team to provide a broad range of financial supports. This role works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Comptroller.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Shared Financial Services team - this team provides basic financial services, implements financial software for clients, provides payroll services, and prepares complex pension reconciliations.
  • Managing the Group Purchasing finance team - oversee a small staff focused on purchase order matching, processing of accounts payable and rebate reconciliation.
  • Hiring and supervision of summer students
  • Providing demonstrations of financial systems to prospective clients
  • Organizing and leading the launch of new service deliveries
  • Working directly with Chief Comptroller for month end accounting and financial processes, annual budgeting process and annual audit
  • Providing support to the Payroll Services team -aiding staff and clients in understanding the interrelationship between payroll and accounting
  • Leadership accountability includes staff performance and management, and financial budget responsibility.
  • Provision of support and guidance on financial matters to managers within the organization

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation is mandatory with 5+ years of experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, specializing in Finance or Accounting or relevant experience
  • Excellent financial skills, accounting knowledge and understanding of financial statements. Familiarity with financial accounting for benefit plans would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in financial software and in Excel. Familiarity with Xero would be an asset.
  • High IT literacy and capacity to quickly learn and become proficient in new software and platforms.
  • Experience in payroll or leading payroll.
  • 3-5 years leadership experience in a management of a team
