Health Association Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit, non-government, membership-based association with 60 years' experience in providing exceptional human resource shared services, innovative clinical engineering solutions, policy support and expertise our customers can count on. Serving multiple organizations from across the province of Nova Scotia, our core fee-for-service programs are Technical Services (formerly Clinical Engineering Services), Labour Relations, Group Benefits Solutions and Shared Financial Services. We are also the joint sponsor of the Nova Scotia Health Employees' Pension Plan.

Through a dedicated Continuing Care Recruitment & Retention program, igility, a subsidiary of Health Association Nova Scotia, provides centralized Human Resources and Immigration support to address current and anticipated labour shortages in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors and Long-term Care (DSLTC). We are currently seeking a Shared Services HR Advisor to join our team.

Position Scope:

The Shared Services HR Advisor is an experienced HR professional with in-depth knowledge and experience in Human Resources with a focus on full cycle recruitment and retention. This position supports employers in the Continuing Care sector with a variety of HR initiatives including the development and posting of roles, screening of candidates, interview support in collaboration with employer hiring teams, referencing of candidates, review and verification of required credentials, and the coordination of onboarding. In addition, this role acts as a consultant with employers to determine potential funding streams available to enhance their efforts to attract and retain employees and supports the required funding application processes as needed. Working collaboratively with the recruitment team, this role supports the assessment of hiring needs with employers to aid in the development of HR plans and strategic staffing. The incumbent provides advice and guidance to clients regarding recruitment processes and hiring best practices to ensure consistency with internal collective agreements or policy guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • College or University education in the HR field, CHRP designation is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in an HR/Recruiting capacity in unionized and non- unionized environments.
  • Full flexibility with work schedule to ensure all business needs are met.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic business environment supporting multiple employers within their portfolio.
  • Able to work under minimum direction and act as a team player.
