The Town of Pasadena is seeking the services of an energetic, well-organized individual to provide the coordination of tasks and activities necessary for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs and special events for the Recreation & Community Services Department.

Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Community Services, the Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the ongoing planning, development, facilitation and evaluation of sport, recreation, and leisure programs for implementation in the community for all ages and abilities. He/she will work in cooperation with community groups and organizations, to ensure that a wide range of sport, social, and recreational programs are provided in the municipality without duplication or barriers. He/she will promote programs, seek out activity volunteers and leaders, and provide assistance to community-initiated programs as needed including through advertising and promotional efforts. He/she will inventory existing programs, complete needs assessments to determine the programs that are required, and facilitate the creation and implementation of the most appropriate programs. He/she will plan, implement, and facilitate the provision of community special events. The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for seeking out and applying for grant funding opportunities and for suggesting recommendations to the Director of Recreation & Community Services for consideration of Committee/Council.

The Recreation Program Coordinator will:

· Promote the Town's vision, values, priorities and objectives to staff, colleagues, and the public. Foster effective working relationships based on mutual respect and accountability to citizen interests.

· Support and promote a culture of wellness and safety.

· In consultation with the Director of Recreation and Community Services, establish the plan for the development and implementation of social, recreational, and community programs and services based on a community development philosophy.

· Assist in the preparation of operating budgets for recreation programs and services including Special Events for current and potential future events.

· Communicate with community organizations, groups, agencies, and individuals to build and enhance cooperation, coordination of programs and services to avoid program and service duplication wherever possible.

· Identify and develop potential partnerships with other public sector entities, the private sector, and/or not-for-profit sector to develop and deliver programs and/or services to respond to identified community needs.

· Provide information and resources required for the improvement and enhancement of existing programs and services and the development of new programs, services, and opportunities to community organizations, groups, and individuals.

· Plan, implement, and facilitate the provision of community special events.

· Research and maintain an awareness and knowledge of Provincial, Federal, and other funding programs or opportunities and prepare applications for such funding as required or directed by the Director of Recreation and Community Services.

· Assist with the preparation and completion of the annual and seasonal Recreation Activity Guide.

· Assist in the coordination of promotional and marketing activities pertaining to the Recreation Activity Guide, divisional programs and services, special projects, and special events.

· Maintain complete and accurate records and related statistics of programs, events, activities, and services.

· Assist with the maintenance of complete and accurate documentation for booking of all recreation facilities of the Recreation and Community Services Department.

· Assist with the design and delivery of recreational and community programs of the Recreation and Community Services Department.

· Conduct continuing analysis of community recreation program and service needs.

· Assist and support Town Staff on matters relating to recreation and community services.

· Ensure the safe operation of equipment used to perform duties and to report unsafe acts or conditions to the Director of Recreation and Community Services.

· Perform job-related duties in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and internal policies.

· Maintain and upgrade skill sets and participate in training and obtain certification within your field of employment at the request of the Town of Pasadena.

· Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum of a university degree with a major concentration in Recreation or Business Administration; two (2) years' related experience in a senior recreation field; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated proficiency in computers and applicable software applications; proven interpersonal, leadership, written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; hold and maintain a valid Class 5 NL Driver's License; hold and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check; capable of being insured and maintain continuity under the Town's insurance policy; attention to detail and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure; capable of being bonded and maintaining bondability, or any equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable to the Town.
