OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data processing, storage, and accessibility for analytical and operational purposes.

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Develop comprehensive documentation detailing data pipeline optimizations, enhancements, and operational support activities, serving as a reference for the Data Governance and Engineering team and stakeholders.
  • Prepare operational support documentation and issue resolution reports, outlining troubleshooting processes, solutions, and preventive measures for future incidents.
  • Document enhancements or updates to data profiles, extraction processes, and transport designs to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Create documentation for data extract and transport testing/quality assurance related to platform capability changes or updates.
  • Develop training materials and provide support for platform users and support staff as needed.
  • Facilitate proactive knowledge transfer to ensure seamless collaboration with the Data Governance and Engineering team, operational stakeholders, and technical teams regarding evolving platform requirements and capabilities.
  • Produce written status reports summarizing completed activities to date, including any outstanding issues or risks impacting the achievement of current or imminent objectives.
  • Fulfill other deliverables as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a data engineer focusing on data integration, migration, or extraction within a data warehouse/data lake environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in roles related to digital health.
  • Recent (within the last 2 years) experience with Microsoft (MS) Azure cloud-native tools, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, MS Entra ID, and Azure SQL Databases.
  • Recent (within the last 2 years) experience with Delta Lake and Delta Tables stored using Gen2 Storage.
  • Proficiency working with Synapse Serverless and Dedicated Pools.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Purview, including Purview Atlas API, and Purview data policies and workflow modules is considered an asset.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in data profiling, data extraction, and development of data pipelines.
  • Ability to write complex queries in both SQL and NoSQL syntax.
  • Experience working in an Agile project environment using Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Personal Health Information Classifications and protections using recognized de-identification/anonymization methods, such as the HIPAA Safe Harbor method.
  • Experience setting up and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable deployment of data-related updates and enhancements is considered an asset.
