What you will do

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join the Fredericton District as Operations Workers I working with the Woodstock Bridge crew.

As an Operations Worker I, you will work under the direction of the Bridge Supervisor and be responsible for:

  • performing general maintenance; cleaning, painting, scraping, shoveling and sandblasting
  • loading and unloading supplies and equipment; ensuring cleanliness and performing minor repairs
  • operating various hand tools and jackhammering
  • installing signs and controlling traffic
  • perform formwork

Work environment:

  • Office location: Woodstock
  • Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours
  • Exposure to dust and fumes

Essential qualifications:

  • Completion of grade ten (10) and have one (1) year related work experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in the maintenance and construction of bridges and/or possess a valid New Brunswick Class 3 driver's license with endorsement for air brakes. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Operations Worker I: $21.87 per hour, based on 40 hours per week
