Role Overview:
Our HR team is growing, and we are seeking an HR Manager to join our Edmonton, Alberta, team. The role will work collaboratively with the team’s Managing Director to champion the vision and culture for Avalon’s most important asset, its people. The ideal candidate for this role will be dynamic, hardworking, able to build strong relationships, lead employee focused strategic initiatives, and create a positive workplace culture.
A Day In The Life…
- Plan, monitor, and maintain HR activities by helping resolve employee challenges and provide on-going employee support.
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for the team including posting job ads, holding interviews, completing reference checks, and creating letters of offer
- Lead new employee orientation including office tours, ensuring attendance for onboarding training, retrieval of proper paperwork, and assistance with onboarding paperwork as necessary.
- Be the point of contact for all employee relations in the office including hosting one-on-one employee meetings on a monthly basis
- Execute action items as result of employee meetings and ensure a timely resolution is communicated back to the employee in response to their concerns or inquiries
- Continuously display and encourage the Avalon’s culture, values and goals.
- Participating in the health and safety committee.
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Director to foster a positive workplace for all employees
What Will Help You Be Successful…
- Bachelors’ degree in HR or a related field and 10 years of core HR experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to communicate and work with people across the company.
- Team player with excellent collaboration skills that motivate others.
- Skilled in human resources practices.
- Ability to exercise appropriate levels of discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Not afraid to take ownership over solving problems.
