Our Team:
The Supervisory Team at Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery is integral to the success of the operation in becoming a safe, predictable, and reliable producer. Come and join our team at Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery!

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Instrument/Electrical to join our Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery & Electrowinning in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Supervisor, Instrument/Electrical you will be accountable for managing the social and technical processes of a front-line team within established limits, to meet the maintenance and/or production goals and objectives of the work area in safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will be also accountable to get a process under control and maintain the process within established limits as well as identifying special cause variances and taking actions to address issues or take advantage of opportunities as they arise.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work from Monday to Friday.
  • Manage systems within the area of accountability to achieve Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
  • Review and promote/reject all new Urgent notifications in your work center through the group approval process.
  • Ensure planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed. Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders for completion by their Required End Date.
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets.
  • Work within assigned budgets and escalate to management should a budget be exceeded.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including supervisors, Planners, schedulers, superintendents, crew members, etc.
  • Coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, and take corrective actions as required, including discipline and grievance management as per the C.B.A. Escalate those that are outside authority.
  • Review and communicate Risk Management situations with crew members at line-up and field discussions.
  • Initiate on-shift investigations for incidents. Perform injury management, working with employees and health care providers to successfully return the employee to work.
  • Complete all maintenance-related reports and work orders and communicates status to oncoming shift(s).
  • Control inventories of consumables and supplies, and order materials to achieve production and/or maintenance schedules.
  • Meet objectives and comply with Monthly Safety plans, incident reporting process, Policy/Procedure reviews, MOC system, etc.
  • Manage plant activities on the off shifts as required in the on-call scheduling and manage overtime to within targets and distribute to crew members within the C.B.A. and provincial guidelines.
  • Manage contractors and employees during special projects such as maintenance scheduled down days, outages (such as shutdowns), and emergency breakdowns.

About You

Education:

  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency with equivalent experience is required.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Red Seal Trade certification would be an asset.


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance or operations, including some time leading a maintenance crew.
  • Experience with maintenance using SAP program is preferred and experience in other maintenance programs will be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and related software products is required.
