Salary Range: $56,898 - $73,965 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager of Research & Training, the Health Research Analyst supports researchers in all aspects of a research project from providing comprehensive reviews of feasibility applications to conducting and interpreting data analyses, and contributing to writing final reports. Data Analysts also complete data validation and documentation to ensure the accuracy of NB-IRDT' s data holdings.

  • Conduct and interpret data analyses using population-based administrative, clinical registry and survey data.
  • Assist researchers in the development of study protocols, data measures, data creation plans, and analytic plans; prepare analytic data sets.
  • Contribute to writing research reports and scientific manuscripts for academic publication.
  • Assist researchers in the preparation of forms required for access to NB-IRDT data.
  • Provide comprehensive reviews of NB-IRDT feasibility forms and data access applications.
  • Provide counsel on data access quotes.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of new research initiatives.
  • Provide research support to users in the NB-IRDT lab
  • Complete data stewardship functions, including data validation to ensure its accuracy. Create and update reference guides for data sets.
  • Output, interpret, and communicate empirical results with project team and external stakeholders verbally and in writing, in particular to non-technical, policy or clinical audiences.
  • Collaborate with GNB departments and external agencies to prepare data sets to move to NB-IRDT repository.
  • Collaborate with the privacy officer and institute staff to ensure continued compliance on the part of external researchers to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the data.
  • Follow all project management processes as required, including the use of required project documentation/forms and project management software.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Graduate degree in Epidemiology, Economics, Health Sciences, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with health economics or pharmacoepidemiology preferred.
  • Experience in manipulating large complex data sets and applying econometric, statistical and epidemiological methods in applied policy-relevant research.

Additional Strengths

  • Statistical programming experience, including managing, merging, and analyzing data sets is considered an asset.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to output, organize and interpret statistical results in reports for diverse audiences including reports for funding agencies and academic publication.
  • Strong knowledge of descriptive statistics, statistical inference, survival analysis, and advanced statistical modeling.
  • Experience using at least one of SAS, R, Stata or Python, as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, time management and daily planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of people and personalities in a professional manner.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • French is considered an asset.
