The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is inviting qualified Early Childhood Educators to express their interest in consideration for a Lead Early Childhood Educator position with the Pre-Primary Program for the 2024-2025 school year. Term and Permanent positions will be available.

Early Childhood Educators who meet the following criteria may be eligible for a Lead position:

  • An undergraduate degree with a specialization in early childhood development or an undergraduate degree and a two year diploma in Early Childhood Education (uploaded to resume)
  • Level 3 ECE classification (uploaded to resume)
  • Recent experience (within past 5 years) working with pre-school children
  • First Aid Certification is required (a copy of the certification needs to be uploaded with the resume)
  • Training and/or experience in a play based learning environment is an asset
  • Experience in a leadership role in an early learning environment is an asset
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license is an asset

Your online resume must clearly demonstrate your qualifications for the ECE position you applied for including the following:

  • Completion of the Certification section of the online resume outlining ECE Classification
  • Proof of undergraduate degree in ECE or undergraduate degree and two-year diploma in ECE (uploaded to your online resume)
  • Proof of ECE Classification Level (uploaded to your online resume)

If you are successful in the interview and selection process, you will be added to the ECE Pre-Screened Qualified Applicant List for the 2024-2025 school year. You will still be required to apply for specific ECE positions and will be provided further information on the staffing timelines and process.

Lead Early Childhood Educators are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 5047 (CUPE) and work 35 hours per week. The annual salary is $50,391.33 paid across 12 months for working a 10 month school year. In addition, the HRCE offers a comprehensive pension and benefit package.
