Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to assist in the activities of the Biology and Quality Assurance Program at the Arichat live lobster facility.

Pay and Benefits:

• Starting at $17 per hour

• Night shift receives an $0.80 extra per/hour from 6 pm-6 am

• Schedule: shift work of eight (8) to twelve (12) hours. Weekends as needed.

Reporting Structure:

• This position reports to Biology & Quality Assurance Supervisor, Arichat

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

• Monitoring water quality at the facility

• Inspecting incoming and outgoing product.

• Preparation of samples for microbiology analysis.

• Sampling of incoming live lobster for quality and regulatory parameters.

• Assisting the Biology Supervisor with data collection, storage and analysis for research projects.

• Monitoring compliance of lobster handling within the facility.

• Enforcing the food safety program at the plant during production.

• Hygiene, Foreign material, Safe packing procedures, Proper labels and packaging, Product inspection etc., Other opportunities as projects come up

Qualifications

• Must have confidence to enforce Quality Assurance standards with staff and management at the plant.

• Must be dependable and flexible in adapting to change.

• Must have great time management skills.

• Must possess strong communication skills.

• Must be self-motivated, pro-active, and professional.

Working Conditions:

• In person

• Environment: Office, Lab, High humidity & Cool plant facilities

• Ability to work flexible hours if required including evenings and weekends.

• Fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (minimum)

• Good written and oral communication skills in English.

• Data collection and analysis experience.

• A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs with the ability to create reports with tables, figures, and graphs. (Excel, Word, Teams)

• Driver's license
