The Role - Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Manager

Under the direction of both the Operations General Manager and the COO, the IPM Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe biological operations of ACLs cultivation and processing departments. You will spend the majority of your time on the production floor and are primarily responsible for developing/maintaining the biological control program and daily monitoring/scouting of plants for pests and disease.

  • Develop and maintain the biological control program and technical protocols for the ACL grow facility.
  • Daily monitoring and scouting for pests and disease.
  • Supervision of IPM protocols of pest and disease management.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and compile IPM and conventional reports for management review.
  • Monitoring efficiencies of control measures used.
  • Verification of pest and disease infestation trends.
  • Management coordination on biological programs and implementation.
  • Planning, organizing, training and assigning scouting and other IPM duties, as required.
  • Provides technical IPM support to the Cultivation Manager and Operations GM through regular meetings and updates.
  • When IPM tasks are complete, or if cultivation tasks take precedence, transition to assisting cultivation with their duties is required.
  • Ability to train cultivation and processing staff in pest and disease recognition.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Key Qualifications & Abilities

Education & Experience

  • At a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent, but preferably a degree/diploma in agriculture, botany, entomology, or horticulture.
  • At a minimum, 5 years experience working in agriculture (or related field) with 3+ years experience working for a cannabis LP where direct IPM experience can be proven/provided.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
  • A valid Pesticide Applicators License.
  • Experience supervising and leading teams.

Skills & Abilities

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is crucial.
  • Able to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Able to supervise and lead a small team of direct reports.
  • Exceptional coordination and organization abilities.
  • Great communication skills: verbal/written in English.

Job Specifics

  • Hours are Mon to Fri, 7am to 3pm.
  • Occasional OT may be required to complete priority work tasks.
  • Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
