CBCL is currently looking to add an entry-level Transportation Engineer-in-Training to our team of talented employees in our Saint John, NB office.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter and will join our established transportation team of professionals to assist in the delivery of projects including, but not limited to, transportation engineering for major infrastructure investment projects, traffic impact studies, traffic operational analysis, parking studies, and design. Project delivery will include data collection and review, data analysis and reporting, developing transportation models including traffic simulation, preparation of reports and design drawings, among other tasks.

The person that we are looking for will enjoy working within a team environment with a highly capable group of established professionals working towards innovation and constant improvement of the services and products we deliver to our clients. CBCL operates a multi-disciplinary environment where all aspects of a project are considered for optimal sustainable solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to enhance transportation infrastructure and systems;
  • Conduct data collection in the field using various types of technology;
  • Conduct research, carry out complex data analysis, synthesize findings and provide comprehensive summaries;
  • Develop and run transportation models; and,
  • Develop design drawings.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field;
  • Proven experience in transportation engineering projects;
  • Experience with TAC (GDG and MUTCDC) and other provincial/federal regulations and guidelines;
  • Experience working with Autodesk Civil3D and/or InfraWorks;
  • Excellent skills in writing, data analysis, and problem solving;
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Proficiency with transportation modelling software packages such as Synchro and VISSIM; working knowledge of other software, such as PTV VISSUM, Arcady, would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Hold a valid New Brunswick driver's license and have reliable transportation to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canda.
  • Occasional travel and evening or weekend work may be required.
