Role Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable to the Director of Clinical Services and Professional Practice to provide professional resident centered nursing care and supervise the overall quality of care provided by LPNs and CCAs. Primary functions include assessment, planning and ongoing revision of resident care and delivery of skilled procedures consistent with College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (CRNNS) Standards of Practice.

The RN provides overall clinical and operational leadership in the following areas: evidence- based practice, interprofessional team coordination, quality improvement, risk management, health and safety to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and ethical resident care. Seaview Manor is a dynamic learning organization with opportunity for leadership/involvement in a variety of nursing strategies.

Qualifications

· Registered and in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Registered Nurses

· First Aid/CPR certification

· Evidence of good attendance and job stability

· All certificates to accompany application

· CPI Training

· Computer skills

· Certification in geriatric nursing and l year of experience in a long-term care environment are assets.

Performance Requirements

  • Demonstrates both physical and mental capabilities in performing the required duties as an RN
  • Good attendance
  • Must be a team player collaborating with other members of the Resident Care team
  • Apply nursing theory in the assessment, evaluation and coordination of resident care
  • Must possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit leadership qualities
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Required to perform all tours of duty (Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends) consisting of 12 hour shifts
